The finding or development

The groups found similar totals but only 15 shared problems. Domain-specific heuristics highlighted more severe issues; Nielsen’s elicited more fine-grained findings. Interview feedback prompted clearer terminology and distinctions between heuristics.

What supports it

Journal research: expert interviews refined ten heuristics; two groups of six evaluators compared them with Nielsen’s on a social-pass Figma prototype.

Reviewed: Publisher abstract, evaluation methods, comparative results and limitations rechecked 31 October 2026; linked prototype not tested.

Why it matters for design

A published practice case linking prior findings, refinement and evaluation across an entire identity journey. Consider combining general and domain-specific checks; this is an editorial application.

Read with this in mind

Small purposive expert samples and one low-fidelity prototype. Evaluator experience and differing scope may explain contrasts. No demonstrated improvement for end users or live services; the authors call for larger, more diverse validation.
